Create a Link & Checkout
This section explains how to create a payment link and provides an overview of the customer-facing checkout experience.
Create a Payment Link
To create a payment link, click the Create button at the top right of the Pay by Link main page. Then, select the organisational unit and enter a reference, Amount, and Currency. This automatically shows the customer's available payment methods when they access the payment link. Finally, choose whether to capture the payment automatically or leave it pending for manual capture. A payment of 0 can be created to verify or register a card. This process does not charge the card but checks the details against the acquirer.
Enable automatic payment capture when possibleIf a payment is not captured automatically, you must manually capture it to process the funds. Use this option with caution.
Adjust the following settings to customise the customer checkout page in the Link details:
- Language: Set the language for the checkout page.
- Payments allowed: Set the number of successful payments allowed before the link expires.
- Expiry: Define an expiry date for the payment link. After this date, the link is no longer valid, and a new link needs to be issued.
- Title: The title to be displayed on the checkout page.
- Description: The description to be displayed on the checkout page.
Checkout
The checkout allows customers to pay with their preferred method. While card payments are prioritised, customers can choose any supported option based on your configuration and currency.
The checkout provides a clear summary of the payment details and automatically verifies the payment information. Additionally, it ensures only valid card information is entered and gives clear instructions if issues arise. After a successful payment, the customer is redirected to a success page.
If enabled on your merchant configuration, 3D Secure and Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) are automatically activated for your payment links.
Checkout Customisation
The checkout page uses the standard theme by default, based on your payment link settings. You can request customisations, such as custom colours and logos; more customisation options may be added later.
