Virtual Terminal
Virtual Terminal provides a simple interface to create transactions with cards or tokens through the portal. You can charge cards or tokens, create new tokens, process unreferenced refunds, and tokenise card details. Available features may differ based on your configuration.
When multiple Virtual Terminal features are active (such as Payment and Refund), you must first select the transaction type to begin. You can start Virtual Terminal transactions from the Transactions main page or the sidebar menu.
Payments
Virtual Terminal's main function is to process payments. You can charge any amount in a specified currency to a card or token. Select the organisational unit and enter a Reference, Amount, and Currency. Finally, choose whether to capture the payment automatically or leave it pending manual capture. A payment of 0 can be created to verify or register a card. This process does not charge the card but checks the details against the acquirer.
Enable automatic payment capture when possibleIf a payment is not captured automatically, you must manually capture it to process the funds. Use this option with caution.
Select Card details or Existing token and enter the required fields, such as Card number and Expiry date. Optionally, select the option to save the card and generate a token to use for further transactions. Once the payment is created, a notification confirms the transaction details. From this step, you can view the payment details or create another payment.
Refunds
You can create unreferenced refunds with a similar payment flow and refund any amount in a specified currency to a card or token. Select the organisational unit and enter a Reference, Amount, and Currency. Refunds are captured and processed automatically.
Enter the Card number or Existing token and Expiry date, and confirm the refund. Once the refund is created, a notification confirms the transaction details. You can view the refund details or return to create another refund.
Tokenisation
Tokenisation allows you to generate a card token without charging an amount or validating the card details with the acquirer. You must add the organisational unit, enter the Card number, and submit the form. After submission, the card is converted into a token.
Virtual terminal: Tokenisation generates read-only tokens onlyPlanet Portal does not store tokens created through the tokenisation flow. They are read-only and must be regenerated if not stored elsewhere.
